My final chair out of wood!

I havent blogged cause I've been busy working on my chair in the shop and here it is !!!!

duality chair!

Duality

I wrote my paper on my relationship with my boyfriend. So, my chair will be one that we both could sit in and somehow we will have to be intertwined.

Chair solution

So, I figured that the best way to make the chair usable is to have all the coragations going up and down. so I cut strips leaving about six in. on every other side. so that slits are coming from each way and then I started rolling. It made a circle just big enough for my butt. AND IT HELD ME YAYYYY!!!!

Sitting in context

I have nooooo idea how to do this chair without removing any material.... this will be the biggest challenge of my design career at ku!!

FINAL BOOK!!!

This has been my favorite project so far! I really enjoyed making a book!!!

Statement about refined model

It was pointed out that the color scheme I had was terrible. So, once I changed that it looked a TON better :)

Book prototype

I chose to go with the flip book with quotes. I ran into some trouble. The pictures of the lake, the movement in them wasn't noticeable enough for a flip book. So, I changed it to another peaceful place that gave you all the same feelings. The Ocean.

Three preliminary book structures

  1. flip book that has quotes on them
  2. flip book divided into three parts one being flipping of the sky, second the water, third(the bottom) being the grass.
  3. paper cut and folded and in the end one all unfolded shows the scene of the lake.

LakeExperience VIDEO!!!

Bringing My Experience to Class!

Feelings from a Lake

Peaceful, beauty, freedom (solitude)

Take video- new sound (nature sounds)

Bring in grass (tall from lake ) and have them blow by the fan (bring fan)

Have them come in and experience it in groups

My Experience!!!!!

I finally decided on my experience I want to do. I have decided that sitting by clinton lake will be my experience!

Rules on Graphic DesignBook!

I found the Rules on Graphic DesignBook the most helpful. One of the reasons I found it the most helpful when it talked about grids. I am not very good (or used to ) using a grid. I found it helpful that having a small grid gave you too many options so using a bigger grid was better. I would not have known that. I think I will try that on my poster and maybe that will help with my issues of the pictures I add in not looking so out of place. It will also help my txt look better I think!

Poster Troubles!

I have finally figured out how I want my poster. The main thing on it is the sketch of the treehouse from google sketchup placed in the tree (it is almost like the background). The only thing is i am running into the issue of placing the other sketches that i actually drew on the poster. they keep looking out of place. I am in the process of fixing it or trying to maybe i will make a bigger grid and see if that helps.

Google SketchUp! Lifesavor? I THINK SOO!!!!

So, I finally played around on google sketchup and I have decided that it is a life savor for someone who can't draw! (kinda like me ha). I finally got a sketch (with google sketch up) that looks decent enough to put on my final poster!

My idea!

The idea I chose to go with was the couples getaway. I liked the design of that tree house better than the others!

My Narrowed Down Ideas!

I think I have decided on a few ways to go with my tree house! One is a getaway for a couple. This would be some where private. Another one is in the weeping willow. This could really be anywhere OR for the couple also! Lastly a party tree house where there are multi levels so lots of people can hang out!

Drawing? not really my thing!

I have lots of ideas of how I want my tree house to look! I only have one issue, I can't draw it the way I see it in my head! This is super challenging to me (and a bit frustrating). I think I might try out the google sketchup thing!

Mood Board!

A mood board is a method commonly used in early stages of web (and branding) design. Think of the mood board as a printed/poster version of your website's atmosphere/feeling, and one that will help you communicate your overall visual and conceptual identity to others. (Suggested size approximately 24x36in.

Posters include typography, iconography, imagery, colors, and stylistic ornamentation that represent your magazine's conceptual and visual identity.

Personas!

Personas are fabricated archetypes, or models, of end users. Personas identify user motivations, expectations, and goals. Even though personas are fictitious, they represent the needs of real users.

Campus Photos

Yesterday me and another member from our group (kristen) went out and took pictures of all the buildings that are going on our board game. Kristen and I are in charge of making the game. We decided to take our own pictures so that they were all from ground perspective.

GAME!

I had four people play my groups game this weekend. I had the control game, where nothing was changed. Two people remembered where their parking spot was and two did not. They had no idea that they were going to need to remember that. I think that the results help prove there is some problem having no new system to remember where you parked your car!
